Kicking off the fall with some new stationery (pictured above) from Zazzle. It arrived too late to use for the treasure hunt winners (those books went out earlier today), but I plan to use it for future mailings.
The summer passed way too quickly, but I wanted to honor it with reports of a few highlights:
Earthship, outside Taos, NM
I had a chance to stay in an Earthship, a home that generates its own power, collects its own water, and features a lush interior garden/water filtration system. Inspiring! And very beautiful. I may have to sign up to learn how to build one myself… https://earthship.com
Meowwolf in Sante Fe, NM
I’ve been curious about the MeowWolf installation for a while now, and it does not disappoint! Loved the immersive mystery experience and all the vibrant art. https://meowwolf.com
The Etruscan Exhibit at the Legion of Honor, SF
It was thrilling to see the linen Liber linteus zagrabiensis, considered Europe’s oldest book (from the mid-third century BC) at the Legion of Honor’s Etruscan exhibit, along with many other items from that time and place. From the exhibition copy:
“The Liber linteus zagrabiensis (Linen book of Zagreb) is the longest-surviving Etruscan text and the only known linen manuscript… The incomplete preservation of the Liber linteus is the result of its history. The original linen sheet, which contained the full text, was cut into strips and repurposed as wrappings for an Egyptian mummy during the Ptolemaic Dynasty, its secondary use ultimately saving the book due to Egypt’s dry climate.”
